March 17

Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all you Irish out there.

It is also an important date for another reason:  it is the four-year anniversary of my first root canal.

So, as many of you are aware, I am not a fan of flying.  In a few days I will be embarking on a trip that will indeed involve a plane or two or six.  One of them is the recently deemed infamous Airbus.  In effort to give myself therapy, I try to research all that there is about these multi-ton aluminum cigars that hurtle through the clouds at 540 mph.  Well, informative sites such as didn’t work.  Too factual.  Too many pictures.  Speculatory / conspiratory sites as didn’t work.  It makes the airline industry out to be 110% villainous.  However, in the sticky web that is the ‘Net I finally came across a site that made me feel better.  It asks for a name (very friendly!) and for a few other tidbits of data, like destination, month of travel, etc.  It words everything with a morbid sense of humor…”Please enter the location in which you hope to arrive”.  Then, it calculates a statistical chance of your “personally experiencing full loss equivalency”.  Other site features include a book store and a list of safety tips.

That's what she said!
